DCS CA ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and with the professional and ethical obligations that apply to us as a Chartered Accountant and Registered BAS Agent, including the confidentiality requirements of APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (issued by Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand).
Although DCS CA operates as a small business, we are not exempt from the Privacy Act because we collect and hold Tax File Numbers (TFNs) in the course of providing accounting, taxation and bookkeeping services. Accordingly, we handle all personal information, including TFN information, in accordance with the APPs and the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.

DCS CA is a sole practice providing accounting, bookkeeping, BAS lodgement, payroll, taxation and related advisory services, based in Bondi, Sydney, Australia. Our contact details are set out in section 13 below.
3. What personal information we collect
Depending on the services you engage us for, we may collect:
- Identity information such as your name, date of birth, address and contact details
- Financial information such as income, expenses, assets, liabilities, bank account and superannuation details
- Tax File Numbers (TFNs) and Australian Business Numbers (ABNs)

We will not use or disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless required or authorised by law.
6. Tax File Numbers
Where we collect your Tax File Number as your registered tax agent or BAS agent, we handle that information strictly in accordance with the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015. TFN information is used only for taxation, personal assistance or superannuation purposes as permitted by law, is stored securely, and is not disclosed except where authorised or required by taxation law, personal assistance law or superannuation law.
7. Disclosure of personal information
We may disclose your personal information to:
- The Australian Taxation Office and other government or regulatory bodies, where required for lodgement or compliance purposes
- Cloud-based accounting, bookkeeping and practice management software providers we use to deliver our services (for example Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks Online), which host data securely to provide these services
- Our professional advisers, insurers or CA ANZ, where necessary for professional indemnity, quality review or regulatory purposes
- Other parties with your consent, or as required or authorised by law
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
8. Overseas disclosure
Some of the cloud-based software platforms we use to deliver our services may store or process data on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipient handles your personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including by using reputable providers with appropriate security and privacy safeguards in place.

We take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and up to date, and to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These steps include the use of secure, reputable cloud accounting and file storage platforms, password protection, restricted access to records, and secure disposal of information that is no longer required, in accordance with our record-keeping obligations as a Chartered Accountant and Registered BAS Agent.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete, by contacting us using the details in section 13. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time. In some circumstances we may be required or entitled to refuse access, in which case we will explain our reasons.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us in the first instance using the details in section 13 below. We will investigate your complaint and respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au, or raise concerns relating to our professional conduct with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand or the Tax Practitioners Board.

13. Confidentiality and our professional obligations
As a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and a Registered BAS Agent, DCS CA is bound by the fundamental principle of confidentiality under APES 110 Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants. This means we do not disclose confidential client information to third parties without proper authority, unless there is a legal or professional right or duty to disclose, and we do not use client information for personal advantage.
